Pit n' Proud is the education and outreach program of Adopt-a-Bull.

Pit n' Proud is dedicated to increasing the acceptance of the American Pit Bull Terrier and related breeds as loving family dogs and capable working dogs through education, training, and by promoting responsible ownership.

Overpopulation, breed specific legislation and policies, and negative stereotypes and myths have done, and continue to do, incredible damage to the bully breeds so many of us own and love. The American Pit Bull Terrier was the original all-American working and family dog. Therapy dog, war dog, search and rescue dog, police dog, livestock dog…the pit bull has done it all, and can do it all. The media has vilified these dogs and made the general public think that the only thing they are good for is fighting. Now they fill our shelters, and are often the first to be euthanized and the last to be adopted.

Pit n' Proud believes that the troubles facing these courageous and loving dogs are best addressed with a proactive, community-based approach. Training, educating, promoting responsible ownership, and supporting rescue are all critical. Pit n' Proud has started to make a difference by bringing affordable training to pit owners in our community. Every well mannered pit out there will change hearts and minds one person at a time! We will soon have a school education program in place, and are working towards an all-bully breed therapy dog team. We need your help. Become part of Pit n' Proud and help us make a difference!
